Dredging works are beginning at the Anaklia Deep-Sea Port, with the first dredger, Tristao Da Cunha, entering the maritime area of the future port. After completing the procedures required by law, the vessel will begin work on the construction of the breakwater channel.
The seabed in the Anaklia maritime area will be deepened to 17.5 meters, while at the next stage, a 1,380-meter-long breakwater will be constructed. The works are being carried out according to a predetermined plan. Construction activities are actively underway in the maritime area of the future port and are being carried out by the world-renowned Belgian company Jan De Nul N.V., a member of the so-called “Big Four,” together with its Georgian partners.
The Georgian government is developing the Anaklia Deep-Sea Port under the globally established “landlord port” model. This model will enable the state to develop the Anaklia Port in partnership not with just one, but with several countries and companies simultaneously, creating the best conditions for attracting cargo to the port and, consequently, ensuring its maximum efficiency.
It should be noted that alongside the development of port infrastructure, the government is also ensuring the construction of the transport infrastructure needed to access Anaklia, including roads and railway lines.
