Today, 1,600 internally displaced families will receive new, fully renovated apartments. This is the largest project implemented to date, Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze said while speaking at an event marking the handover of apartments to internally displaced families.

According to the head of government, GEL 280 million was invested in the project, and a residential neighborhood meeting modern standards has been created in Tbilisi.

“Today is a very emotional day for each of us. Today, 1,600 internally displaced families will receive new, fully renovated apartments. This is the largest project implemented to date. A total of GEL 280 million has been invested in this project.

Residents moved into four of the buildings last year, while today 1,600 families are beginning their lives in the complex’s seven new blocks. A fully equipped and comfortable environment has been created here, with green spaces, sports grounds and children’s recreational areas. Our citizens will live in a protected and safe environment,” the Georgian Prime Minister said.

According to him, providing internally displaced families with decent housing remains an unwavering priority of the government.

Important projects are also being implemented in the regions. Four buildings are being constructed in Rustavi for 800 families, more than 1,700 apartments are being built in seven new buildings in Zugdidi, while another 150 families in Borjomi will receive new housing.

Last year, we completed the construction of a 720-apartment residential complex in Kutaisi. These are large-scale projects being implemented with the ultimate goal of ensuring that every internally displaced family has decent housing.

In addition, the ‘House in the Village’ program continues successfully across the country. Under the program, the state has already purchased housing for nearly 16,000 beneficiaries, including 2,000 this year,” the Georgian Prime Minister said.
