“We are ready to start from a clean slate the relations that the Biden administration destroyed, as a result of which the US pushed away its best partner in the region and ended its strategic partnership with its most strategic partner. The Biden administration unilaterally destroyed these relations, and we have repeatedly said that we are ready to start our partnership from a clean slate,” Georgian Parliament Speaker Shalva Papuashvili said, speaking about resetting relations with the US.
According to Papuashvili, the dynamics of relations between the agencies of the two countries are improving, and these relations are very important.
“As soon as the US administration is ready for the next stage, we will also be ready. We are in no hurry; we have our own positions. In this friendship, we are acting in good faith, while the previous administration acted in bad faith,” Shalva Papuashvili said.
According to him, the fact that Trump ended USAID funding and shut down other harmful projects indicates that he condemns the policy of the Biden administration.
According to Shalva Papuashvili, the goals of the Georgian government are the well-being of the population and the reunification of the country.
“We welcome everyone who wants partnership and relations with us while sharing these goals. We are not forcing anyone into anything, nor did we cling to Biden when he ended the strategic partnership. Everyone who wants friendship with us can see that we are a good-faith partner. Today, the Baltic countries are beating their chests and saying that they sent ten or twenty people to Afghanistan, whereas we had 1,000 servicemen in Afghanistan. So everyone knows very well that if someone is looking for a partner, we Georgians are among the most reliable and good-faith partners,” Shalva Papuashvili said.
According to him, the Georgian government is satisfied with the dynamics of relations with the Trump administration.
“We are satisfied with this dynamic, including with the project called ‘Trump Tower.’ When the US president is seeking to showcase his name in this region, this is also a message confirming this dynamic.
