“The United States remains deeply concerned about Russia’s continued occupation of Georgian territory and condemns the killings, abductions and other forms of violence taking place under Russia’s ongoing occupation,” the US Embassy in Georgia said in a statement published on social media.

As the Embassy notes, the United States stands in solidarity with the Georgian people.

“Today marks eighteen years since Russia’s military aggression against Georgia began. The United States remains deeply concerned about Russia’s continued occupation of Georgian territory and condemns the killings, abductions and other forms of violence taking place under Russia’s ongoing occupation.

We stand in solidarity with the Georgian people and once again reaffirm our commitment to Georgia’s sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity, emphasizing the need for a peaceful resolution of the conflict,” the US Embassy said.
