The Orion spacecraft, which performed a flyby of the Moon as part of NASA’s Artemis II mission, successfully splashed down in the Pacific Ocean near San Diego, California, on the night of Saturday, April 11.

More than three million people watched the landing broadcast on NASA’s YouTube channel. The live stream was also available on other platforms of the space agency.
During the lunar mission, a new record for the farthest distance humans have traveled in space was set — the astronauts moved 407,000 km away from Earth, surpassing the record established during the Apollo 13 mission in 1970.
The Orion spacecraft, carrying NASA astronauts Reid Wiseman, Victor Glover, and Christina Koch, as well as Canadian Space Agency astronaut Jeremy Hansen, launched from the east coast of the United States on April 1. Five days later, on the evening of April 6, the Artemis II crew completed their observation period of the Moon and began their return to Earth.
Among other things, the mission participants tested new spacesuits capable of providing up to six days of breathing in autonomous mode.
