“I invited the Pope to Georgia, and we hope that he will visit,” Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze told Georgian journalists in Rome.
As the head of government noted, a visit by the Pope to Georgia would be extremely important.
“I invited the Pope to Georgia. This visit would be very significant. As you know, next year Georgia will celebrate the 17-century anniversary of its Christianization, and in this context, a visit by the Pope would be very interesting. I conveyed this invitation to the Pope. We hope that he will visit Georgia,” Kobakhidze said.
The Prime Minister of Georgia was in the Vatican on an official visit and had already met with Pope Leo XIV.
