In Moldova, media freedom has long been trampled underfoot, and the country has been left with only two television channels — “Public Broadcaster-1” and “Public Broadcaster-2.” This was stated to journalists by Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze.

According to the Georgian Prime Minister, under such conditions it is no surprise that Moldova is also attacking Georgian free media.

“In Moldova, media freedom has long been trampled underfoot; only two television channels remain there — ‘Public Broadcaster-1’ and ‘Public Broadcaster-2.’ In reality, two state television channels are operating in Moldova. This also reflects the general situation, yet no one criticizes Moldova for this. Against this backdrop, when in Moldova only two state television channels have effectively been left, it is no surprise that Moldova is also attacking Georgian free media. They have restricted free media in Moldova, and now they are attacking free media in Georgia. This is an absolutely logical chain of events,” the Prime Minister of Georgia said.
