"The majority of EU member states are against suspending the visa-free regime. I want to assure you that Georgian citizens can continue to enjoy the privilege of visa-free travel to the European Union," said EU Ambassador to Georgia Pawel Herczyński, commenting on a statement by Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk that his government is lobbying EU member states to revoke visa-free travel for Georgian citizens.

"For several years now, there has been a special relationship between Georgia and the European Union. We have granted Georgian citizens the opportunity to travel to Europe without a visa. We have also opened a free trade area. Three years ago, Georgia submitted an application for EU candidate status, and in 2022 we officially granted Georgia that status.

At this stage, no decision has been made. It should be noted that the majority of member states oppose the suspension of the visa-free regime. Discussions are ongoing, and ultimately, this will be a joint decision by the member states. However, for now, I want to reassure you that Georgian citizens can continue to enjoy the privilege of visa-free travel to the EU," Herczyński stated.
