In total, 246 Ebola cases have been confirmed, according to the Congolese Ministry of Health. One of the first cases was recorded at an evangelical medical center, where a nurse died. Prior to this, she had symptoms of fever, vomiting, bleeding, and severe weakness.
The government of the Democratic Republic of the Congo reports that an operations center has been established, epidemiological and laboratory surveillance has been strengthened, and mobile teams have been formed.
Representatives of the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Uganda, and South Sudan held an emergency meeting to tighten control over population movement across borders.
The Ebola virus was discovered in 1976. Outbreaks of the virus have been recorded 17 times in Congo.
