Officers of the Batumi City Division of the Adjara Police Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia detained two citizens of the Republic of Turkey — A. Ch., born in 1998, and E. S., born in 1988. They are accused of illegal group acquisition and possession of an especially large amount of psychotropic substances.
The crime is punishable by up to 12 years of imprisonment.
Law enforcement officers stopped the suspects on the Tbilisi–Senaki–Leselidze highway while they were traveling by car. As a result of a personal search and a search of the vehicle, the police seized as evidence an especially large quantity of capsules containing the psychotropic substance pregabalin.
The investigation is ongoing under Article 261 of the Criminal Code.
